Urban planning, research and spatial analysis.

HudhudX is an organisation based in Mogadishu working in urban planning, urban research, spatial analysis, digital mapping and visualisation. Urban Lab, its research platform, is being developed alongside these services.

A Planning B Research C Mapping

HudhudX works on how urban areas are organised, how they change and how they can be planned. The work starts from spatial information: collecting it, analysing it, and presenting it so that it can be used in planning and development decisions.

02Services

Planning, research and mapping work from the same spatial base.

Each service area uses the same material: the street pattern, plots, land use and population of a settlement. Planning sets out how land should be used and where growth should go. Research measures what exists and how it is changing. Mapping makes both readable.

How they connect. Research provides the evidence for planning decisions. Mapping turns both into material people can read and discuss. Planning questions then define what needs to be researched next.

Urban Lab

Urban Lab is the research and experimentation platform of HudhudX. It is where independent research, datasets and analytical methods are developed, and where the methods used in planning and mapping work are tested and documented. The platform is being established; nothing has been published yet.
